Book Description:
This book traces the human odyssey starting in the remote antiquity when our collective consciousness started to ponder over and sought answers to the esoteric and abstruse questions on the origins and existence of the universe and life. The book attempts to examine the frequently asked fundamental question: Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? It presents the various concepts and thought processes on this profound subject. It deals in depth with the prehistoric notions ascribing creation to magic; in time developing into the theistic ideas and beliefs, and lastly, expanding into the scientific modern day conceptions. It covers the three realms of time ― past, present and future. It discusses our origins in the past, life in the present, and envisages the unknown future. To give a complete picture on this profound subject, the authors have presented various ideas and notions expressed in mythology, theology, philosophy, and science, and have drawn parallels, wherever applicable. In this book, the emphasis is on presenting various concepts on the birth of the universe and the origin and evolution of life. Above all it attempts to predict the future of humans, the most intelligent species on the planet earth.
