Teacher Education and ICT

The main thrust in this book is on information Communication Technology applicable to the field of teacher education in training which is an important dimension in today's social reality.The classroom teacher thereby with the diffusion of information communication technology can become an explorer and creator in an era of knowledge explosion and expansion. The information provided in this book will be of great help to teachers who care and value for learning and learner in the present scenario. Beside this it is also of great help to student of education of different levels. The main objective of the book is to motivate and encourage educators to implement media tools especially computer technology for making instruction more effective. This book mainly focuses on computer media. Thus a conscious effort has been made by the author to link various aspects to information communication technology its role and diffusion into the system of teacher education, as effective teaching reflects successful implementation of educational technology by teachers and authentic learning and learners. This book contains six chapters- Communication -An Introduction, Introduction and Education Technology, Computers in Education, Computer Technology in Teacher Education, ICT Competencies and Teacher Education and Computer ethics.

About the Author(s):

Dr. Umme Kulsun, B.Sc., M. Ed. and Ph. D.,is Reader in the Post Graduate Department of Education, Bangalore University, Bangalore, has put in a total of 20 years of experience, as a U.G.C. Research Fellow and Lecturer. She has been teaching at M. Ed. level subjects such as Curriculum Development, Communication and Education Leadership and Human Relations, Advanced Methodology of Teaching, Environmental Education, Computer Education and Research Methodology. She has been guiding M. Ed. and  M. Phil students since last 20 years. She has successfully guided about 150 M. Ed., 7 M. Phil. and 8 Ph. D. students for their dissertations. Right now she is guiding 5 students for their Ph. D. Research work. Her research papers have been published in the National Level Journals of repute. She has participated and presented papers in about 28 regional, national and international level seminars and conferences.Two of her research tools, viz. "Teacher profession, were published by the Pyscho- Education Testing center, New Delhi These tools are popular in term of their being preferred for use by other researches in the educational research and training, while planning and formulating the Radio Programme  in Environmental Studies, involved her services. Curriculum content briefs and other related learning activities for  Radio transaction were finalized during the sessions.  Government of Karnaraka, under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, during the year 2004 has sanctioned a research project entitled "Determinants of Learner Achievement at Primary Stage in the State of Karnataka".
